The old parish church of St Apollinaire was situated near the village Bogovići where even today the old cemetery and the bell tower can be found. According to the data from the visitation documents, it was there in the 12th century, but it became the parish church after its restoration and expansion in the 15th century. It had a main altar and another six side altars as well as all liturgical equipment. Although it received nothing but praises in bishop visitations, in the middle of the 19th century, a new parish church with a bell tower was built at the site of the chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Bogovići, also dedicated to St Apollinaire. The main altar from the former parish church and the marble altar of Our Lady of Mount Carmel from the former chapel were transferred to the new church.
The old Christian martyr St Apollinaire was proclaimed the heavenly patron of the District Malinska-Dubašnica.
